Welcome to the future. Welcome to club Noir. Outside, the world has been taken over by algorithms, a.i.’s and drones, but you are safe here in this analog sanctuary. The interdisciplinary play Noir explores to what extent humankind can still be human in a fully automated future. To what extent can we still be unbiased and free of thought and action when everything is programmed? Harbouring in abandoned office buildings, the nomadic theater collective Nineties shows a night full of dystopian foresighted acts, musical déjà-vu’s and characters that are lost in translation in a technological future nightmare.

Nineties notices a thematic parallel between current turmoils and those depicted in film noir. After WWII, which caused a lot of social shifts, skepticism and distrust remained in the Western world. Film noir stylized the fears and alienation that were a product of these shifts: emancipation of women, immigrants, ethnic diversity, corruption and technological advancement.
